The Witcher 3 werewolf keeps healing: Wild at Heart preparation

Find the Wild at Heart lair, prepare for its wolves and regenerating werewolf, and separate older combat advice from an unverified Remastered repair.

Prepare before repeating the fight

Remove the smaller wolves, use the silver sword, and prepare the werewolf-specific tools listed by your Bestiary. The older Wild at Heart route lists Moon Dust, Devil’s Puffball, Cursed Oil and Igni. It describes regeneration during the fight; that is not evidence of a verified Remastered bug fix.

Quest and combat spoilers. An October 2026 search-index excerpt raises regeneration complaints, but does not establish a platform/build-specific successful repair. Old effect strengths are not copied into 5.x.

If you have not found the enemy

Start the notice-board quest and investigate Hanna’s disappearance at Blackbough. Follow the woodland evidence, scratches, fur and scent toward the shack. The lair entrance is underneath it; the legacy route uses Aard or a weapon to break the door. If the creature is absent, that walkthrough waits until nightfall inside the cave.

Make the next attempt different

  1. Keep a save before the encounter. Review your current level, sword condition, healing supplies and allocated skills.
  2. Read the installed version’s Bestiary and alchemy descriptions for the tools you actually own.
  3. Deal with the accompanying wolves so they do not interrupt every attack or healing action.
  4. Dodge the werewolf’s heavy attacks and use short attack openings. Avoid spending the entire fight trading damage.
  5. Compare its health loss with its recovery. If you cannot make progress, retreat and improve preparation rather than spending every consumable on the same attempt.

Returning players should check the Remastered skill reset first. A previously strong character can need rebuilding.

When the behavior still seems abnormal

Record the exact quest, platform, full build, difficulty, mods and tools used. Separate “regeneration beats my damage” from “health immediately refills after every hit.” The cited older route does not prove a current Cursed Oil healing-stop effect, infinite-loop workaround or universal patch fix.

Once the encounter enters its dialogue stage, preserve the save before the story choice. For your own health management, see healing and meditation.
