In Wolf’s Clothing: Morkvarg’s meat, cursed fang and garden gate

Choose whether to kill the cursed werewolf with his own meat or investigate Einar’s cursed fang to restore Morkvarg’s human form.

Morkvarg has two documented curse-resolution routes. Feeding him his own werewolf meat kills him permanently; the cursed fang obtained through Einar can restore his human form. Ordinary food turning to ash is part of the curse, not proof that you need to feed him repeatedly.

Find the garden’s missing clue

Speak to Josta and investigate Freya’s Garden. The legacy route uses the rightmost water gate and its underwater cave to obtain a key. Open the locked building and read the journal, then return to Einar with what you learned.

If the gate sequence is confusing, separate the water-control objective from the Morkvarg feeding conversation. The key and written evidence advance the investigation; repeatedly defeating the werewolf alone does not uncover Einar’s history.

Choose before the next conversation

GoalDocumented route
End the curse by killing the werewolf permanentlyUse Morkvarg’s own werewolf meat in the feeding dialogue
Restore his human form firstInvestigate Einar, obtain the cursed fang, and use it after weakening Morkvarg

Keep a save before resolving the curse if you want to compare outcomes. The restored human also has a reward conversation and a further moral decision. Those are not identical to feeding the werewolf route.

Finish the selected branch

If you pursued his promised reward, follow its Novigrad contact, then return to Josta for the quest’s own completion. Check which objective remains instead of assuming that removing the curse automatically completes every reward step.

This is distinct from a regenerating werewolf in Wild at Heart. Do not apply Morkvarg’s quest item to every werewolf fight. We have not measured Remastered regeneration values or tested a new garden softlock.
