Witcher 3 Remastered modded saves: achievements and cross progression

Identify the cog-marked modded save, protect console achievement goals, and match required mods before transferring a character to another platform.

Before saving with mods

On consoles, achievements and trophies are disabled for modded saves. CDPR marks these saves with a mod.io cog icon. Disabling a mod later is not a documented way to make that saved file clean again.

Protect an achievement run

Keep an untouched slot from before enabling mods. Any save written while mods were enabled is treated as modded under the official FAQ. Choose which branch you intend to continue, then verify the icon in Load Game.

The stated disabling rule is for consoles. This page does not extend that rule to every PC launcher, achievement or third-party mod configuration. A platform trophy is also different from a contract’s physical monster trophy item.

Match mods on both devices

  1. List the mods enabled in the source save and check their platform tags.
  2. On the destination, connect the same CDPR account and inspect which subscriptions are available there.
  3. Install and enable the matching required set before loading the transferred save.
  4. If a required mod is unavailable or incompatible on the destination, keep playing that modded branch on a supported device rather than assuming the save is portable.

Subscriptions sync, but unsupported console mods are ignored. Offline loading also depends on having the required mods already installed.

When a transferred save will not load

Separate absent cloud upload, missing expansions and incompatible mods. The cog icon points to the modded-save branch; it does not tell you which dependency is absent. Keep your original and document the enabled lists on both devices.

For basic account/upload steps, use cross progression. For the subscription workflow, use installing mods. No save-cleaning tool or guaranteed achievement restoration is recommended here.
