The Witcher 3 endings: supportive Ciri choices and branch planning

Preserve Ciri’s supportive dialogue choices, then distinguish her survival from the political conditions behind the empress route.

Ciri’s outcome depends on choices made across several quests, not one final dialogue. A conservative supportive route is: have the snowball fight, refuse payment if you visit Emhyr, let her speak to the Lodge alone, support her reaction in the laboratory, and visit Skjall’s grave.

Keep saves before the decisions

CheckpointSupportive approach
After Kaer MorhenCheer her up with the snowball fight
Emhyr visit, if takenRefuse the offered money
Lodge conversationTrust her to speak alone
Laboratory sceneSupport her reaction
Skjall’s graveMake time to visit with her

This checklist deliberately avoids promising that one good choice cancels any number of earlier decisions. Preserve all of the supportive choices if your aim is a safer route. You must replay from before a decision to change its place in that branch’s history.

Witcher and empress are separate branches

The historical witcher route avoids taking Ciri to Emhyr while keeping the supportive choices. The empress route additionally depends on the emperor visit and the political outcome that allows Nilfgaard to win. This is why changing only Ciri’s last conversation is not a complete empress checklist.

If you want to compare both, keep a save before the emperor decision and before the relevant political quests. Record which branch each save represents; a generic “finale” label is easy to confuse.

Separate the other epilogues

Geralt’s relationship and Blood and Wine’s ending have their own decisions. Use Yennefer’s commitment, Triss’s commitment and the Toussaint sisters route for those tasks. We have not verified new Remastered ending thresholds or a way to repair a completed outcome without replaying an earlier save.
