Compare the same scene in SDR and HDR before applying a brightness fix. Current player reports describe different results by display and graphics setup. We do not have a verified universal HDR calibration or a guarantee that the latest patch fixes every dark interior.
Keep the comparison controlled
- Record platform, full build, display model and HDR state.
- Use one save, one interior and the same camera position.
- Compare SDR with HDR using the system and game controls available on your platform.
- Restore the original settings before testing another variable.
Do not compare an outdoor daylight scene in one mode with a cave at night in the other. Time of day, weather and camera exposure can make screenshots misleading even when the settings are otherwise identical.
Separate HDR from tracing modes
On hardware with the relevant options, compare ray or path tracing separately from HDR. Remastered’s official feature notes describe new visual options, while PC 5.00c lists particular lighting corrections. A correction for a named location or effect is not evidence that all indoor darkness has been resolved.
If the scene is similarly dark in both SDR and HDR, do not assume that display calibration alone explains it. Keep the tracing comparison and the display comparison as separate observations in your report.
Keep the useful evidence
Record the exact location and mode with comparison captures. If you need capture controls, see Photo Mode; if your issue is low frame rate instead of visibility, start with the performance comparison and the hardware requirements.
The community rollback thread establishes that players are discussing HDR differences, not that reverting guarantees a better result or that a new 5.x save will load on an older branch. Preserve separate saves before considering a version change.
