Back up your working saves before removing anything to resolve a GOG cloud-capacity error. First establish whether the game can save and load locally. A full cloud allocation and a blocked Documents-folder write are different problems.
Preserve a working local copy
Find the game's actual save folder under your Windows Documents location, normally The Witcher 3/gamesaves. Documents may be redirected, so confirm you found the files used by this character. Copy them to a separate backup outside the synced save directory and keep the originals until you have checked the backup.
Record the error text and storage figure shown by your client. An October 5 player reports a 200 MB limit, but that single account report is not evidence of a universal current GOG quota. Do not decide which saves to remove solely from that number.
Use GOG's documented cloud-removal route
- With the backup secured, launch the game through GALAXY.
- Remove only unwanted save entries in-game, or use GOG's documented Alt+Tab file-removal method.
- Close the game so GALAXY can mark the missing entries for cloud removal.
- Allow for GOG's stated propagation delay of up to 24 hours. Do not repeatedly delete more files while waiting.
GOG documents temporarily disabling sync through the game's customization menu: Manage installation → Configure → cloud saves. This is for GOG games; Steam Cloud and CDPR cross progression have separate clients and rules.
Verify before resuming sync
Load a retained local save and create a separate new test save. Check that it appears and loads correctly. Preserve the backup until the chosen cloud/local state is settled; read any conflict prompt rather than automatically replacing your newer copy.
If local writing fails even with sync disabled, use the PC save/load branches. Do not turn off Windows protection broadly or assume cloud cleanup fixes a local permissions error. For continuing GALAXY failures, send GOG the exact client error, build and local-test result.
