Return to Kaer Morhen through Ugly Baby after the main investigations in Velen, Novigrad and Skellige. The opening tutorial visit is not a freely available early return route. A Wolf School treasure hunt does not open the region by itself.

When Ugly Baby is not in your journal
Continue the main Ciri investigations in the three regions and check their active objectives. Do not use your level or completion of a treasure hunt as a substitute for those story milestones. If Velen is paused on the Baron’s wife, use the Family Matters dependency guide.
Before a major story transition, keep a manual save and finish time-sensitive side opportunities you care about. The Lambert route has its own quest-order considerations; a broad “all side quests are safe” promise would be misleading.
Follow the Uma route
- Track Ugly Baby and return to Crow’s Perch.
- Speak with the Baron or Sergeant Ardal, depending on your previous story outcome, then follow the stablemaster objective to collect Uma.
- Continue the intervening Vizima audience. The journey is a story sequence, not a continuous road you must find across the world map.
- After reaching Kaer Morhen, speak with Vesemir and check the new preparation quests in your journal.
- Use the region’s map and available signposts for your next trip rather than repeatedly searching the Velen map for the keep.
Choose your next task in the region
The arrival starts Disturbance, The Final Trial and To Bait a Forktail. Their follow-ups continue Ugly Baby. Reaching the region and finishing that entire quest chain are distinct milestones.
If your goal is equipment, the standard Wolf School diagrams have a separate signal-tower portal route. If the region remains inaccessible after the documented arrival, record the current quest stage and map behavior; this page does not supply a command that safely rebuilds travel or quest flags.
