Quests & Gwent

A Matter of Life and Death: masks, party Gwent and Albert’s escape

Buy the masks, finish the three party Gwent matches before advancing, identify Albert, and escape through the hedge maze.

Buy Triss's fox mask and a mask for Geralt, then finish the party's three Gwent opponents before continuing Albert's escape. The documented wins award Milva, Vampire: Bruxa and Dandelion. Keep a save before the party so the optional collection opportunity stays recoverable.

Meet the servant and buy the masks

Speak to Triss at her apartment, find the blue-clad servant with keys at the fish market, and follow the trout conversation through the ambush. Buy the masks from Elihal. Fancy clothes are optional in the historical route; masks and optional attire should not be treated as the same requirement.

Complete the optional card checkpoint

At the Vegelbud party, find the croupier and win all three matches. Inspect your collection for the three cards before leaving this stage. A successful single match does not complete the whole opportunity.

Build a usable deck before starting rather than depending on a later merchant to replace these wins. The broader missable-card checklist covers other quests; this page supplies the actual party sequence.

Find Albert and leave the maze

Lady Vegelbud wears a parrot mask; Albert wears a panther mask. Speak to both and follow the garden/maze sequence until the fireworks. After switching masks with Albert, defeat the witch hunters with the available fists and Signs, then reach the stables to recover your weapons and finish.

For Triss's commitment, use the separate Now or Never route; attending the party alone is not the final declaration. If a card or dialogue branch was skipped, return to the saved party checkpoint. No new Remastered buyback or completed-quest repair is certified here.
