The native Switch 2 edition adds gyro aiming, mouse control, motion actions and touch support. These features belong to that edition, not an assumption that the original Switch build has the same controls.
Where each input helps
| Goal | Input to compare |
|---|---|
| Aim a ranged weapon | Gyro with a supported playstyle; compare it with stick aiming. |
| Cast, use items or control Roach | Motion actions where offered by the current control setup. |
| Navigate menus and map or play Gwent | Touch input on the Switch 2 screen. |
| Try an alternative pointer-style setup | The mouse control option and its displayed control scheme. |
Learn one setup at a time
- Confirm you are running the native Switch 2 upgrade and record the build.
- Choose your playstyle and inspect the current control options before changing input.
- Use the motion-control tutorial available from the main or pause menu.
- Try a safe ranged-aiming or riding example. Change one input option and compare whether it helps.
- Restore your preferred setup if the gesture or pointer mode does not suit how you hold the device.
Upgrade ownership is not save transfer
The official release says original Switch owners can upgrade on Switch 2. Moving your character is a separate cross-progression check, and required mods must be available on the destination.
This page does not invent default gesture directions, button remaps, battery measurements or a performance preset. Use the actual tutorial for gesture instructions. If a control behaves incorrectly, record the playstyle, input mode and exact action; “Switch controls broken” loses the detail needed to compare the setup.
