Let Ulle win the arena fight. His curse is that he always loses, so repeatedly defeating the ghost only repeats the problem. In the documented route, Geralt must stop attacking and allow Ulle to defeat him to lift it.
Find the arena in Hov
Travel to Hov on Spikeroog in Skellige and speak with the guards by the arena. Then approach Ulle and begin the encounter. The useful clue is in the curse’s story, not in finding a stronger sword or a special damage type.
Keep a manual save before the encounter if you are uncertain about deliberately losing. That gives you a checkpoint for verifying the quest result without replacing a later campaign save.
Stop repeating the kill
- Begin the arena encounter with Ulle.
- Stop attacking and let his attacks land.
- Allow the quest encounter to resolve with him winning.
- Return to the guards after the curse is lifted.
If you already defeated him, the legacy walkthrough says he returns after a few days. Wait for the next opportunity rather than treating the disappearing ghost as a permanently failed objective. This is a quest-specific loss condition; it is not advice to deliberately lose unrelated combat.
The later profit payment
The guards’ initial reward and the later arena profits are separate visits. If the profit dialogue is not available immediately, return after a few in-game days instead of repeatedly fighting Ulle. Check the journal so you know whether you are waiting for the second payment or still need to complete the curse.
For a different Skellige curse that does require a specific item or feeding choice, use Morkvarg’s garden quest. This route is historical; we have not tested a new Remastered arena bug or an exact current reward amount.
